Wardship
The purpose of wardship is to protect the person and the property of an individual when they lack the capacity to do so themselves.
Following the commencement of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) 2015, as amended, on the 26th April 2023 the Office of Wards of Court can no longer accept applications for adult wardship.
Since the 26th April 2023 applications under Part 5 of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015 as amended will be made to the Circuit Court.
If a person needs support with decision-making the appropriate further information is provide by the Decision Support Service and and on our Assisted Decision Making pages.
